Note: the owners weren’t interested in selling.
I’m pretty positive the owners got a shock as well, seeing a bearded guy in a lifted Toyota get excited over their junk cars.
2CV ANDDDDDDDD MEHARI!!!!!!!!!!
They were in rough shape, but I was ecstatic. I am a secret lover of French cars. The owners used these as parts cars on cars they owned in the past.

I almost want to save the 2cv

What’s the other car in the barn with the Saab?
![]() 08/20/2016 at 16:39 |

There are 3 more actually. The one towards the front I have no clue. The other two are a Sunbeam Alpine and Austin Healy Sprite (Bugeye).

I do too, but it’s too far gone. It was a parts car, per the owner.

OH SHIT. I’m up in NC, and all of those fit my want list. In what condition is the 2CV?

It looks like the one in front may be a Saab Sonett:

Non restorable. Or at least not worth saving. It was their parts car. They took what was good, it’s shell is all that is left.

Very well may be! There were 3 or 4 Saabs around.

Is it rusted out, and did they take the motor? Because if I could get it for like $1k, it might be worth it to buy interior parts, as long as I don’t need a new chassis.

Very, and possibly.

Damn, that would have been a nice collection, hadn’t they been over grown with branches.

Jordan,
Any chance you can put me in touch with the owner? I’m very interested in the Saabs if they are for sale.
Thanks,
Matt

Sorry, but I’d rather not disclose where they are, and they weren’t interested in selling
![]() 08/21/2016 at 13:33 |

So they don’t even apparently have a use for them as parts cars anymore, yet they won’t sell. Wonderful.
![]() 08/21/2016 at 13:38 |

They aren’t too old, so I assume they think there is a chance for another one.

They better get moving, those things look like they are returning to the earth. Painful.

“Sorry, they’re not for sale. I have plans to fix them someday!”
“Really? Name two of the vehicles you have out there...”
“Uhh...... Rusty and a Camry?”
![]() 08/21/2016 at 13:40 |

Well they bought them as parts cars, so they already were gone. The Mehari would make a great lawn ornament, as the plastics are warped.
![]() 08/21/2016 at 13:42 |

Lol, they knew what they had. They were parts cars for a restored ones that they had.
![]() 08/21/2016 at 13:43 |

Oh so there’s more here than meets the eye then? A bunch of cars sitting outside and a few inside that are under restoration? This is my ultimate dream — and my wife’s nightmare.

A U.S. spec 2cv and Mehari are pretty rare, and the 2cv looks pretty complete for a parts car.
![]() 08/21/2016 at 13:49 |

Not exactly. The restored ones are gone, and these are what is left of their parts collection.
![]() 08/21/2016 at 13:50 |

It’s gutted and rusty. It’s pretty much just the body from what I can tell. It’s also kind of warped.
![]() 08/21/2016 at 15:29 |

Reminds me of a dude I bought parts off of. Now that he is ready to sell, the car is in too bad of shape to be worth saving.
![]() 08/21/2016 at 15:43 |

I’d 100% just swap in a later chassis under that body.
The 2cv was only semi-officially available in the U.S., You could get one through an official Citroen dealer, but it was only by special order, so they’re incredibly rare in U.S. spec. The vast majority that are here are grey-market imports or brought over recently from Europe.

The trouble with finding a barn find is before you can find the barn find you have to find the barn.
